This year, Moving to Conservers is hosting a series of classes on moving to zero-waste. The classes are held the first Thursday of every month. Each month has a theme and this month’s theme is Sharing. We picked this theme for January to coincide with the opening of the new sharing club Transylvania Shares!

Transylvania Shares will have a soft-opening on January 16th and we are hosting our potluck at Cedar Mountain Canteen to celebrate. The Shares’ inventory is there and we will be pitching in and helping them with some volunteer labor. We will be hosting our next potluck there on January 9th to pitch in as well. Please join us.

James
We had a wonderful educational class and potluck January 2nd where James, a board member for Transylvania Shares, led a discussion on the club. There were a lot of questions and suggestions and a small display of some of the items the club intends to make available. Here is a list of a few of the items on display:

• a router and book on router use
• a bicycle helmet
• children’s riding gloves
• a backpack
• an equipment dolly
• china plates, bowls and cups
• flatware
• drywall tools
• an Orion cooler
• a NRS drybag
• a camping lantern
• a fishing tackle box
• a level, square and various tools

How can you support sharing in our community and reduce your impact?

KathleenEvery person makes a difference. You make a difference. Your support means so much and supporting a local sharing club can go a long way to reduce our community’s impact on our beautiful environment. Here are a few things you can do to support sharing locally:

1. Join Transylvania Shares. Membership is $30 a year minimum. Many have joined at a higher level to help us get started. It is much appreciated.
2. Loan and/or donate items to Transylvania Shares for use.
3. Donate some volunteer hours to Transylvania Shares.
4. Use items from the club instead of purchasing.

Sharing clubs also do a lot to build community. Getting to know our neighbors and helping them is one of the best ways to break down the barriers that lead to division. We are more alike than we are different. It is nice to share.
