It is nice to share. We have learned that reuse is key to moving to a zero-waste household and community. John and I have a collection of amazing gear. We use to own a bike and kayak shop in West Virginia and as a result, we have collected quite a bit. We offer it to folks all the time. Many are reluctant to borrow it and we get that. Other communities have set up sharing organizations to formalize arrangements, which seems to remove most of the reluctance.
Recently, since Moving to Conservers helped Motown Memories become a zero-waste event, community members have contacted us and donated items to the group so that others can use them. We are getting quite the collection of household items, tools, and such.
So the question is, how do we get from where we are now to a sharing solution that works for our community? We are pursuing answers to that question now. Have thought and ideas? Please send them our way. We would love to hear from you.
