Pisgah Collective Harvest Festival. Want to help move it to zero-waste?

We love Pisgah Collective. They provide a loving nature-filled environment for our communities’ children. We are certainly bound to them with love and similar visions. Althea has reached out and asked if we want to be a part of their Harvest Festival. Here is what she shared when I asked how we could help, “We are hoping for this to be a community event with fun kid activities, local vendors, possibly music. I was thinking moving to conservers could help manage a waste/compost station and/or have some sort of demonstration or class. Honestly, we are up for anything!!” Please let us know if you can help. We would love to be a part of their celebration. Just reply to this email if you want to help.

Let’s get together for a meal and enjoy each other’s company

This Thursday we are hosting a zero-waste potluck at the Cedar Mountain Canteen on June 24th at 6 pm.  This will be a low-key gathering.  We will enjoy a potluck and bring back our zero-waste tips clothesline.  What is that?  Folks have shared their ideas about how to move to zero waste by creating a flag that we hang on a clothesline.  You can read suggestions from others and create your own flag to add to the line.  We provide the material scraps and the markers.  It is a fun way to share. All are welcome.  Please bring a covered dished to share if you are able.  If not, please join us.  We would love to feed you.  Please bring your own non-disposable place setting too.  Plant-based meals are encouraged.  All food is welcome.  We have had so many delicious plant-based meals.  It is an amazing meal. Looking forward to sharing a meal together.

Our gathering with Leif was wonderful. Thanks everyone for an amazing meal and loving friendship

Leif Olsen treated us to an incredible discussion about mycology.  Wow, the stuff is everywhere, thank goodness.  We had an amazing turnout and the food was divine.  Thank you Leif for sharing your time and knowledge and thanks to everyone who shared their time and delicious goodies.  Over 40 people enjoying the evening and our trash can didn't even notice.  Thanks everyone for supporting zero-waste events.  It is so kind to not leave a lot of garbage for folks to clean up.

Our gathering with Mountaintrue at the Cedar Mountain Canteen was fabulous.

We had our first gathering of 2021 June 3rd at the Cedar Mountain Canteen with a presentation from Anna of Mountaintrue and learned how to be good neighbors to the Little River, which is beside our beer garden.  It was magical seeing everyone together for the first time in over a year.  The food was fantastic and it was a joyous occasion. We learned the results of our first water test in the Little River and it was excellent!  Thanks to everyone who joined us.  It was wonderful to be together again.

How do you feel about starting potlucks again?

Picture above:  A Moving to Conservers gathtering at Rooster Head Farm It has been over a year since we have gathered as Moving to Conservers.  Now that John and I are part owners of the Cedar Mountain Canteen, we feel we have a home for Conservers to enjoy and use as a demonstration site to show how to move to zero-waste, compost, plant food and love each other. The Canteen has a wonderful outdoor garden on the Little River and we are ready to host Moving to Conservers' gatherings if you feel it is time to do that again.  All the owners of the Canteen are fully vaccinated and we would love to see you again.  Our gathering size is limited to 21 at the moment as that is how many we can safely host and social distance. Please let us know your thoughts.  We look forward to sharing together again.
